(TheFreedomFlag.Com)- The fact that President Donald Trump continues to allow CNN’s Jim Acosta into his press briefings is a miracle. Trump was willing to give him a chance on Monday, though, when he announced a series of victories in the fight against the Chinese coronavirus.
Despite telling the press about a new five-minute coronavirus test, and the fact that Ford and General Electric are set to produce more than 50,000 ventilators by July, Acosta still had something negative to say.
Pointing to the CNN journalist, Trump said, “Let’s give it a shot.”
“What do you say to Americans who are upset with you over the way you downplayed the crisis over the last couple of months,” Acosta then asked. He mustn’t have seen the huge spike in approval ratings for the president in recent weeks.
“What do you say to Americans who thought you got this wrong?” he added.
Trump initially responded professionally and calmly, despite the clear bias, reminding Acosta that his team are doing a fantastic job at minimizing the impact of the Chinese virus.
“I do want them to stay calm and we are doing a great job,” he said. “If you look at those individual statements, they’re all true. Stay calm, it will go away. You know it is going away. And it will go away. And we’re going to have a great victory,” the president added.
But the president couldn’t hold in his disgust at the way CNN has handled coverage of the virus, taking every opportunity to smear the president and his team.
“It’s people like you and CNN that say things like that, that – it’s why people just don’t want to listen to CNN anymore,” Trump said. “You can ask a normal question.”
Trump then explained how he intended to keep the American public calm, to give them enough room to navigate their daily lives in a way that reduces the spread of the virus but which does not cause more panic.
“I don’t want panic in the country. I could cause panic much better than even you. I could do much – I would make you look like a minor league player,” Trump told Acosta. “But you know what, I don’t want to do that. I want to have our country be calm and strong and fight and win, and it will go away.”
The president concluded by telling Acosta, “Instead of asking a nasty, snarky question like that, you should ask a real question and other than that, I’m going to go to somebody else.”
For once, Acosta didn’t have much to say. When a journalist is using a global pandemic and national crisis to take unnecessary digs at the president, you know they’ve got no credibility left.
