(TheFreedomFlag.com)- The Squad is at it again.
Instead of focusing on legislation to help Americans as the 117th Congress just took their seats, these progressive members of the House of Representatives are focusing their attention on President Donald Trump.
Members of the Squad are now demanding that Congress launch yet another impeachment investigation into Trump. The demand comes after the president was alleged to have attempted to pressure Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s secretary of state, to “find” the roughly 11,000 votes that would hand the Trump Georgia’s presidential electors.
The president only has two weeks left in office, but the Squad apparently wants to take up all that time — and much more, most likely — focusing on impeaching him.
News of Trump’s conversation with Raffensperger came out this weekend when an audio recording of their one-hour conversation was released. In the recording, Trump is heard saying:
“I won this election by hundreds of thousands of votes. There’s no way I lost Georgia. There’s no way. So, look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have because we won the state.”
In response, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, one of the leading members of the Squad, said:
“I absolutely think it’s an impeachable offense, and if it was up to me, there would be articles on the floor quite quickly, but he, I mean, he is trying to — he is attacking our very election. He’s attacking our very election.”
AOC said she believes punishment for Trump should come down “quickly,” even though he is leaving the White House before the end of the month.
Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, another member of the Squad, posted similar comments to Twitter, writing:
“The president’s effort to openly overturn our election results by putting pressure on the Republican Secretary of State of Georgia is a crime, plain and simple. The constitutional remedy for a high crime and misdemeanor committed by the president of the United States is clear: impeachment.”
While Squad members are gung-ho for another round of impeachment for Trump, it isn’t likely that such a move would gain the support of other members of the Democratic Party. New York Representative Hakeem Jeffries, for one, said the House should focus instead on other issues, leaving Trump to fade into history.
“If today is January 4, there’s 16 days until Joe Biden is the next president of the United States of America. We are in a deadly pandemic. It is a once-in-a-century public health crisis. The chaos, confusion, conflict and corruption that Donald Trump has inflicted upon this country is something to be evaluated by the historians at this particular point in time.
“With respect [to] what has currently taken place, I have not viewed the transcript [of the call]. We’re not looking backward. We’re looking forward to the inauguration of Joe Biden on January 20.”
The Squad, though, is singularly focused, once again, on Donald Trump.
