Joe Biden Sexual Assault Allegations Becoming A Problem For Democrats

(TheFreedomFlag.Com)- Democrat Joe Biden was hoping the sexual assault allegations from Tara Reade would go away if he and his campaign simply ignored them, brushed them off to the side.
But after a few days of being pounded in the media — by conservative and liberal media outlets alike — that isn’t very feasible anymore. While his campaign has consistently denied the allegations from Reade, his former staffer, Biden hasn’t addressed that straight on just yet. That all changes on Friday, when he is set to finally speak out about them.
In the meantime, many prominent women in his party — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, most notably — have come out pledging their full support of Biden. Their comments about the situation are downright hypocritical, when comparing what they are saying about their candidate now versus what they said about conservative Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh back in 2018.
The issue of the sexual assault allegation is quickly becoming troubling for the party. On the one hand, they need to stay firmly behind their anointed challenger to President Donald Trump. On the other hand, they need to stay firmly behind their position of supporting and empowering women.
Biden has already announced his plans to select a woman as his running mate, and some of the lead women need to tote the line carefully, lest they appear as if they aren’t supporting their peers. One of the potential nominees for vice president, Stacey Abrams, tried to do that this week, saying:
“I believe women deserve to be heard, and I believe that has happened here. The New York Times conducted a thorough investigation, and nothing in the Times review or any other later reports suggests anything other than what I already know about Joe Biden: That he will make women proud as the next president of the United States.”
Others outside the inner workings of the “Democratic Machine” are calling for more accountability, though. One of the co-founders of the #MeToo movement, Tarana Burke, tweeted that Biden should address the accusations head on to “demonstrate what it looks like to be both accountable and electable.
“Meaning, at minimum, acknowledging that his demonstrated learning curve around boundaries with women, at the very least, left him open to the plausibility of these claims. No matter what you believe, we are allowed to expect more of the person running for U.S. president.”
Basically, she’s saying that “touchy-feely Joe,” who apologized earlier this year for being too “handsy” with women at campaign rallies, opened up the possibility that Reade could be believed — even if she is lying.
Others, though, feel Biden needs to do a whole lot more than just tackle the accusations head on. Claire Sandberg, the national organizing director for Bernie Sanders’ campaign, called for the apparent nominee to drop out of the race now. She tweeted:
“Now is the time to deal with the ramifications of Tara Reade’s accusations, not this fall. There is simply no moral justification for Biden to continue as the presumptive nominee. Out of respect for survivors and for the good of the country, he should withdraw from the race.”
