(TheFreedomFlag.Com)- White House Coronavirus Task Force advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Wednesday that sports games could return this summer, despite the continued spread of the Chinese coronavirus throughout the country. Fauci did, however, say that sports leagues may only return in the coming months if “no one comes to the stadium.”
Fauci made the comments during an interview with Peter Hamby of Snap Originals, a video service provided by social media platform Snapchat. Fauci responded to a question relating to the timetable for the return of baseball games.
“There’s a way of doing that,” he explained. “Nobody comes to the stadium. Put the players in big hotels, wherever you want to play, keep them very well surveilled…Have them tested every single week and make sure they don’t wind up infecting each other or their family and just let them play the season out.”
Sounds like a plan, right?
Well, it might come as a relief to baseball fans everywhere, but as the country still faces a struggle to obtain enough test kits for the wider population, the plan might prove controversial if nothing significant changes soon.
If sufficient tests can be obtained, however, then the plan might just work. According to ESPN, 72% of Americans would not attend sports games if there is no vaccine for the virus. That means sports fans may not even be expecting the games to go ahead anyway, so would be happy to see them go ahead and aired on television.
The sports channel also reported that, according to a Seton Hall University poll, just 13% of Americans would attend games the same way they normally would. Another poll also showed that a plurality of respondents, some 46%, actually said the National Football League season shouldn’t go ahead as planned in September.
It’s incredible when sports fans are even saying the gamers shouldn’t go ahead!
If President Trump gets his way, however, then it looks like many games will be going ahead. Trump has been adamant for many weeks that he will reopen the United States economy as soon as possible, after being forced to abandon plans to reopen for the Easter weekend. The president said this week that his plans to reopen the economy will be coming very soon, so let’s see what that entails.
At least we know we’ll have something new to watch on the TV in the next couple of months!
